Overall, there seem to be two main types of victorian style bird feeders, but the majority of them are freestanding. Since freestanding are prone to being blown over by heavy winds, you need make sure that the are being stabilized somehow. There are many ways of doing this, ranging from using large rocks for support, or burying the bottom underground.
